STAMFORD, Conn. ? Connecticut-based building trades workers protested the use of out-of-state contractors at Harbor Point Friday during a demonstration outside the Stamford Government Center.

About 50 protesters held signs saying such things as "Baker Concrete Taking CT Jobs" to express their disdain for Harbor Point developer Building and Land Technology 's use of Ohio-based Baker Concrete .

"We need officials and good corporate citizens that understand the process of growing our state’s economy and helping to strengthen the standard of living for all families here in Connecticut,” said Charles LeConche, business manager of the Connecticut Laborers’ District Council and co-chair of the CT First Coalition.

Friday’s protest took place from 8 to 11 a.m. and saw union members on three corners of the intersection of Washington and Tresser boulevards.

A call to Building and Land Technology was not returned.
