STAMFORD, Conn. -- After publicly announcing its dire financial situation, Stamford-based Starwood Hotels & Resorts has revealed its grand plans for its Sheraton brand, according to buzzfeed.com.

The "Sheraton 2020" plan was created in an effort to bring the chain back into the public eye, including adding 150 new properties by 2020, implementing a $100 million marketing plan, and creating a new tier for the Sheraton Grand, according to buzzfeed.com.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts' headquarters are based in Stamford.
