The group announced the scholarship after receiving strong support for its #Buzzword Holiday Party, scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 4. The party will be held at the Innovation Center, 175 Atlantic St., from 7 to 10 p.m.

Two $500 scholarships for SIC classes will be awarded to Future 5 students. Future 5 helps motivated low-income high school students in Stamford graduate and connect to a better and sustainable education and career path. Scholarship applicants will be screened jointly by Future 5 and the Stamford Innovation Center.

Classes are offered by Stamford Innovation Center as part of its Innovation Ed education offering. The Innovation Ed courses include: Marketing; Career; Coding/Programming; Entrepreneurship and Social Enterprise.

“We’ve developed a strong working relationship with Future5 over the past couple of years,” said Barry Schwimmer, managing partner of the Stamford Innovation Center. “Their mission is clear and the impact they have on the community is tangible. We are pleased to help foster an interest in entrepreneurship, business and technology among Future 5 participants and look forward to deepening our partnership through this program.”

Tickets for the #Buzzword Holiday Party can be purchased online

This is the second annual holiday party at the Innovation Center.  More than 130 people attended last year’s event, and the SIC is expecting to surpass that number this year.

Local sponsors include: Fairfield County Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA); Sustainable America; Taylor Design; Marketing Executives Networking Group; Angel Investor Forum; Beeby Clark + Meyler; and Austin Lawrence.
