NEW CANAAN, Conn.-- There's holiday magic in the air  --and more than a few "elves" busy readying the store  -- as Against the Grain gears up for its first time participation in the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Stroll taking place Friday Dec. 2 and Saturday Dec. 3.

The retailer, owned by Stamford resident Chris Meier, is all about showcasing handcrafted, Amish furniture, custom tables and wooden products from local American artisans.

Customers can expect everything from hostess gifts, kids puzzles and rockers to wood tables, chairs and bird feeders.

“Our ‘Made in America’ goods are mainly wooden and we strongly support local craftsmen," said Meier.

Against the Grain recently held a launch party that supported Strays & Others with every cent -- a total of $250 -- going towards the charity. Meier said the store is still accepting donations for anyone who is interested.

In the spirit of the holiday,  all custom furniture ordered before the end of December will locked in at 2016 prices, along with a 10 percent discount.

Against The Grain is at  91 Main Street, New Canaan, (203) 801-2022, www.shopthegrain.com/.
