Stamford-Based Pitney Bowes Earns Honor From Norwalk Community College

NORWALK, Conn. -- Stamford's Pitney Bowes was honored with the Distinguished Service Award at Norwalk Community College's commencement on Thursday, May 22.

Nicholas Donofrio, chairman of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Board of Regents for Higher Education, presented the Norwalk Community College Distinguished Service Award to Pitney Bowes at the college’s 52nd annual commencement exercises. 

Kathleen Ryan Mufson, director of corporate citizenship & philanthropy, accepted the award on behalf of the corporation, according to a press release. 

"Since 1988, Pitney Bowes has generously supported Norwalk Community College as a corporate leadership partner and a Pitney Bowes executive has served on the NCC Foundation Board of Directors," a press release said.

"Pitney Bowes actively encourages employee volunteer involvement and provides generous volunteer grants and matching gifts through the Pitney Bowes Foundation. The company has provided direct financial support for educational and workforce training initiatives and NCC events that raise funds for student scholarships, as well as in-kind support to help facilitate our internal and external communications."

The Pitney Bowes Foundation supported the construction of the NCC Center for Health, Science and Wellness, according to the release. The Wellness Center, named after the Pitney Bowes Foundation, is a "state-of-the-art fitness facility committed to improving the general well-being of NCC students, faculty and staff," according to the release.
