Skigen will focus her practice on venture capital, private equity, and mergers and acquisitions transactions for the firm as it announced the expansion of its corporate and finance practice.

“Gloria brings a unique combination of law firm and in-house counsel experience to our expanding practice,” said corporate and finance practice leader Marty Clarke. “Her extensive background with middle-market transactions across a wide range of industries makes her the ideal fit for our team.”

Skigen represents investors in venture capital and private equity transactions, structures mergers and acquisitions transactions, and provides business advice for institutional investors as well as middle-market and startup companies.

She has more than 26 years of experience, and has provided corporate legal counsel to clients in numerous industries, including life sciences, specialty pharmaceuticals, medical devices, information technology, clean technology, energy, and consumer products. Across the span of her career, she has handled more than 125 venture capital transactions totaling more than $2 billion.

“Dickstein Shapiro has a stellar reputation for successfully leading middle-market transactions. As a former in-house counsel, I am especially excited to be joining a team that focuses on deal efficiency and providing top-flight client service,” Skigen said. “I have frequently found myself at the negotiating table with a member of the Dickstein Shapiro Corporate & Finance team and know they are best-in-class.”

Skigen joins Dickstein Shapiro from Martin LLP, where she was a partner in the firm’s Business and Corporate Group. Before joining Martin LLP, Skigen served for nine years as general counsel to Tullis Dickerson, a health care venture capital firm, where she oversaw all legal affairs, including portfolio investments, exits, fund administration, and investment opportunities. Skigen has repeatedly been named by Chambers USA as a “Leading Individual” for her corporate/M&A practice in Connecticut.

Dickstein Shapiro’s Corporate & Finance Practice focuses on middle-market transactions — those with values in a range of $10 million to $500 million.
