In his new role, Rice is responsible for technology innovation, process improvement and information systems management for AmeriCares offices worldwide, according to a press release. Rice brings nearly 30 years of experience in the information technology field, most recently serving as chief information officer at MAP International in Georgia, according to a press release.
“Dennis is a demonstrated leader in the field of technological innovation,” said Michael Nyenhuis, AmeriCares president and CEO, in a press release. “His experience managing complex systems and his background in global health will help us stay connected to our field offices and emergency response teams overseas. I am delighted to have him join our senior leadership team.”
Rice first joined MAP International in 1985, taking on positions of increasing responsibility before leaving to serve as an engineer and systems consultant with SalianTech, Inc. in 2002, according to a press release.
During this period, he had significant involvement with Microsoft and was directly involved in a number of new Microsoft technology platform projects for five years as a part of the Microsoft MVP Technology Program, including serving as a contributing writer for Microsoft’s Expert Zone on their corporate website, according to a press release.
At AmeriCares, Rice will oversees several systems, including an inventory management system that tracks more than $500 million in donated medicine and relief supplies annually, according to a press release.
“As a thought leader and major player in the global emergency response and health program sector, AmeriCares has a clear vision and need for technology to improve the lives of underserved populations,” Rice said in a press release. “We are developing technology initiatives that will help people recover from crisis and build better lives.”
Rice lives in Stamford with his wife, Sandra, and daughter, Lisa.
