Just off a week-long soft opening, the restaurant, in the Fairfield Centre Shopping Center at 923 Post Road, had an official grand opening Friday.

The new place is part of a mini-chain started by Chef Tony Hu in Chicago and features an extensive menu of high-end dishes and take-out favorites.

Hankering for a little General Tso’s Chicken or Hot & Sour Soup? They’ve got it.

But they’ve also got Sichuan Style Green Bean Jello, Stir Fry Pork Intestine With Mixed Vegetables in Casserole and Braised Tripe with Blood Cake.

The menu offers a full range of chef specials and meat and vegetarian dishes as well a Chengdu-style ‘tapas’ menu of more modestly priced offerings.

Those who’ve already sampled some of the eatery’s fare say it may create a Fairfield Sichuan war with Shu, another Post Road restaurant praised for its ‘authentic’ fiery Chinese dishes.

“The folks down the block at Shu have got to be shaking in their knickers right about now,” said Joey V. from New York, N.Y. in his review on Yelp. “There is a new Sichuan King in town.”

Gingko offers dine in, take out, catering and delivery. The hours are 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and noon to 9:30 p.m. Sundays.
