Andrew Doba, former director of communications and senior adviser to Malloy, has joined Stu Loeser & Co. as the firm expands to Connecticut.

The firm has taken space at the Stamford Innovation Center and launched a website redesign at stuloeser.com. Its headquarters overlook Bryant Park in Manhattan. “I watched with admiration as Doba’s deft storytelling skills and smart strategies helped Governor Malloy lead Connecticut through some rough waters. I'm thrilled that he is now going to help fuel our firm's strong growth,” Stu Loeser said in a press release announcing Doba's hiring. Loeser previously served as chief spokesman to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. After leaving the Bloomberg administration, Loeser opened his own media strategy firm to help tech companies, financial institutions and others navigate New York's highly competitive media market and the national media based there.

“When the opportunity came to join Stu’s firm, I jumped at it,” Doba said. “I’ve known Stu for a number of years. He’s one of the best in the business. And his team not only understands modern communications, but also successfully delivers for clients in the nation’s toughest media market. I’m excited to start this next chapter and to be a part of his team.”

Doba was both Malloy's top spokesperson and architect of earned-media campaigns designed to advance the governor’s priorities, such as becoming the first state in the nation to pass a minimum wage increase to $10.10 an hour and the push to curb gun violence in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.

Doba directly managed or had oversight of nearly 100 people in 30 state agencies, quasi-public entities and other cabinet-level positions. He also expanded the state’s presence on social media.

Doba previously worked for Mayor Bloomberg’s 2009 re-election campaign, in addition to other campaigns and positions in government. He is a native of Ansonia.
