First Niagara Bank Donates $10,000 To Ferguson Library In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The First Niagara Bank Foundation has donated $10,000 to support technology training at the Ferguson Library in Stamford. This grant follows a gift late in 2015 of $10,000, also for technology instruction.

The library offers a regular schedule of technology training including introductory classes in basic computing, Internet and email, as well as more advanced courses in PowerPoint, Excel, deep web and other subjects. All classes are free and open to the public.

“For many of our users, the library’s technology classes are a first step in acquiring critical workforce skills,” said Alice Knapp, president of the Ferguson Library. “We are grateful for First Niagara’s generous support of these programs that make a difference in so many lives.”

“One of the cornerstones of First Niagara’s community investment program is to support initiatives that provide educational enrichment in the communities we serve, particularly in our urban areas,” said First Niagara Tri-state Market Executive, Robert Cerminaro. “Public libraries provide lifetime learning opportunities that can make a difference in people’s lives, and we are pleased to support the Ferguson Library’s efforts to provide quality technical training to the Stamford community.”
