"I think there is a real need for high quality, convenient affordable, urgent care services in Stamford," he said. "I felt there was a definite need in the community and that Doctors Express would fill that need and serve the community well."

His background is in finance: Radulovacki has been an investment analyst and portfolio manager specializing in overseas investments. However, his family is in the medical field. His father, Misha, is a doctor who ran a lab at the University of Illinois for 40 years. His mother, Liliana, is a dentist, and his brother, Branko, is a psychiatrist.

"I know the medical field from my family, but I looked at a number of investment opportunities and I was really, really attracted to this one," Radulovacki said. "I thought it served a need in the community but it was also a good business investment."

It has been serving patients for three weeks.

Doctors Express will offer fast, convenient and affordable care for non-life-threatening medical emergencies as well as routine health needs, he said. It takes 15 separate insurance plans as well as Medicare and Medicaid, Radulovacki said.

Walk-ins are welcome, he said, with no appointments needed. Patients see an onsite doctor right away.

"When you get here, you get board-certified physicians here. That's what leads our team," he said. "You don't come in and see a licensed nurse practitioner or a physician's assistant. You are seeing the highest level of certified physicians, board-certified physicians, who are usually in family practice, internal medicine or emergency room doctors."

Staff, including nurses and X-ray technicians, will provide efficient emergency care for sprains, fractures and other injuries; minor traumas; infections; or illnesses in under an hour.

Other on-site services include X-rays, lab tests, pre-employment physicals, drug screenings, sports and school physicals, vaccinations and prescriptions for non-chronic conditions, eliminating the need to visit multiple facilities, Radulovacki said.

"We have a full blood lab onsite," he said. "We have a very robust ability right here to treat and analyze you."

He said more advanced work is sent on to bigger labs.

Dr. David M. Lauren, D.O., began as medical director and lead physician on June 2 and is Radulovacki's partner in the business.

Lauren has 20 years of experience in family medicine and urgent care. He most recently provided urgent care services to children and adults at multiple walk-in centers of the Northeast Medical Group/Yale New Haven Health System. He is licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health, certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

The new Doctors Express clinic will be open seven days a week, including evening hours, Radulovacki said and he anticipates it will only be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Days.
