“Always be open,” she said. “We’re open seven days a week.”
The 1,500-square-foot business just moved to a new location at 1 N. Water St. in SoNo.
The shops sells fresh-cut flowers for weddings, corporate parties, funerals and celebrations.
Braach's Flowers has been operating for over 80 years old. It was previously known as Braach's House of Flowers and had been located at 43 N. Main St. in Norwalk.
Legend has it that the shop originally opened as a result of a dispute, says Vinci, who has owned the business since 2004.
“There were two florists who worked together in Norwalk in the 1930s — Mr. Braach and Mr. Meckel. They were brothers-in-law," she said. "One day, they got into a dispute and Mr. Braach left to start his own business — Braach’s House of Flowers."
A successful business also takes the time to get to know its customers. “We really know our customers' styles and personal tastes when it comes to choosing the best flowers for them," said Braach, who lives in Norwalk.
Beginning this summer, Braach's Flowers will offer seasonal, theme-based floral design classes. They will be taught by Vinci, who has a bachelor’s degree in horticulture.
“We will do a demonstration and then everyone will get to make their own floral arrangement to bring home," she said.
